Copics Colour Challenge 28

Although I know I did not need anymore Christmas stamps, I was tempted to buy the Ollyfant Winter stamps - really good value at £5.99 at Sir Stampalot. I'm entering this card in the Copics Colour Challenge and although I didn't have the exact colours, these are in the same colour range. And some great news....my local craft shop, Sir Stampalot are now stocking Copics....so if I buy one or two every time I visit them I should build up my colour range pretty quickly, as I always seem to be in there!!

I have used a background card cut out on my Silhouette and also cut the snowflake and sentiment. Brad from Joanna Sheen Flora Doodles. Copics used: R29 Lipstick Red, B12 Ice Blue, various greens and browns. Been doing a fair bit of colouring lately, just need to find the time to make them into a card!

And another great bit of news, whilst at Sir Stampalot Demo days at the weekend, I correctly guessed how many buttons were in a jar and won a fantastic prize made by Louise and a Stamp donated by the shop. Louise is a very talented lady and will post a pic when I have collected them.

Inking with Kim

Feeling a bit better now and up to driving, so went to an inking class held at Sir Stampalot by Kim Reygate. I love Kim's classes as she uses completely different techniques and this time it was bleach. Yep, good old thin household bleach. On this card we bleached the background using a "word background stamp" and then stamped and embossed the leaves and used bleach to colour out some segments of the leaf.

On the toadstool card, we again used a stamp for the background and bleached out the petals and for the toadstool, we stamped and embossed the image and bleached out the card before colouring back in. This allows a more truer colour to come through.

And finally, for this card we stamped the image three times on different colour card, cut out and layered the two leaves and bleached out some segments to form a contrast colour. It was really interesting and I loved using the bleach, definitely something I will have a go at again.

Double layout

I have been attending a SDU course (Scrapbooking Design and You - I think that's what it stands for) and am just over half way through. This week we discussed layout design building blocks and how you can strengthen your layout with line. Our homework this week was to complete a double page layout following a sketch that Janice had prepared for us incorporating line in the layout.

I really enjoyed this week's class and felt it was all coming together nicely. We started off the layout at the end of the session but, as usual, I didn't get very much done and finished it off at home. I am sooooo slow and it takes me an eternity to make a decision about anything. I stand and stare at every single thing I put on the page and wonder whether it would be better placed somewhere else! LOL, you may think after looking at my double layout that it doesn't look as if I spent any measured time at all on it!!!

I think choosing a font to do the title is one of the hardest decisions....As my pages are about water I went for a font called World of Water which is available free on DaFont. I got an image of a tap and using my Silhouette I traced round the edge of it and used it as the "r" in water. I then added the drips of water using gems - I knew I wanted to do this right from the start. I think it does make it easier having a sketch to follow, certainly for me as I am a beginner.

I'm pretty pleased with my efforts and can't wait to start another page :-)
