Thank you card

Posted by Picasa
A thank you card for my SIL for putting us up (or should that read putting up with us!) over the Christmas period. We had a really great time.

I had seen Nichol Magouirk making these cute butterflies using ribbon and had a go, but the paper ones came out much better. So, I incorporated it into my thank-you card, matting and layering it on a thank you background which in itself is matted onto a cuttlebug swirls background. The cut-out swirls were done on my silhouette along with the tag.

Thanks for looking,

Sue

Charisma Cardz Challenge

Posted by Picasa
Charisma Cardz Colour Combo Challenge No 22 can be found here. The design team have made some cracking cards, so pop on over and take a peek.

And I bet you can't guess what the colour combo is, can you?! LOL. Yes, pink and brown.

Had lots of fun with this one, using many more layers and embellishments than I usually do. I think the backing papers is a daisy bucket design and then layered over with Papermania. My most favourite stamp It's your day because it is so versatile and can cover so many occasions. Flowers coloured in with chalks and highlighted with ink and finally cupcake cut on my silhouette and run through the cuttlebug with the dots of the cream highlighted with glossy accents.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by.

Allsorts Challenge

The challenge this week over at Allsorts:

"This weeks Challenge is my challenge( Kirsten ) and the challenge is 'CURLY SWIRLY' however you wish to interpret it....."

So, even though it is lovely and sunny outside, I was tempted to make this card. I have used Daisy Bucket papers with a swirl in the background and for good measure I ran my backing card through the Cuttlebug Divine Swirls folder.

I coloured in Tilda's face and hair with my copics but only having a limited amount of them I moved onto my Whispers brushstrokes for the remainder of the colouring. I have inked up the flowers and highlighted with brushstrokes. Enjoy your Day sentiment is a digital download from Charmed Crafts.

Right, I'm off now to go and soak up some sun - Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Creative Inspirations Wed Challenge

My Sister-in-Law's daughter, Frances, gave birth to a baby girl, 7 lb 13 oz, and they have named her, yes, you've guessed, GRACE. Aaah, I go all goo-ey thinking about babies.....

I was in town at lunchtime and do you know, I was almost tempted to buy a card! I had a quick look but decided to have a go at making one and here is my attempt. I really hope they like it.

I have used Daisybucket designs backing paper and Penelope's Patches paper for the name, which I cut out on my Silhouette, along with the baby items for the border. I have run the border and heart corners through my Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots folder (which I love) which means I can enter Creative Inspirations Wed Challenge which this week was to do some embossing. It didn't say dry or with powders, so I think this should be alright.

Do pop over to the Creative Inspirations Blog - the design team have made some fabulous cards.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog, please feel free to leave a comment.

And there's more.....

This card is for Anne. She was kind enough to buy me some very nice-smelling Bodylotion, umm hope she's not trying to tell me something! And, she bought me some rather fantastic embellishments, some of which I have used on her card.
I am not altogether too happy with this card. It is a bit too purple on purple. I have used a darker purple ink brushed over the top of the flowers and the wording to distinguish between the two colours. I also stuck a Butterfly embellishment on, after I had scanned the card in.
This card is for Bev. It is very similar to the other flower pots thank you card. I used the same templates but embossed the background with the Cuttlebug and, more importantly, used the Alphabet stamps that Bev bought me for my birthday for the word Thanks.
I got the Cuttlebug out again for this card and embossed the background. I used the free papers with February Making Cards magazine and cut out the frame with my Silhouette.

February, already! I have been busy playing around on my Silhouette and learning lots more things to do on it. I seem to spend an awful lot of time on UK Scrappers - I am now able to access the templates pages and there are thousands of wonderful designs so it is easy to lose a few hours browsing!

I made this card using the Joanna Sheen Boutique CD - the topper and backing papers are off it only using my Silhouette to cut out the buckle.

I cut the bookmark from a template and ran it through my cuttlebug, highlighting the swirls with my clear Sakura gel pen. I then used flocking for the cat to give it texture. I belong to a reading group and on the back of the bookmark I have cut and glued on all the books we have read since we started the group back in 2005!

I've been spending a lot of my time getting to know "my machine". I have eventually managed to download the updated software so that I can weld and mat my words.....not had a go yet but intend to try in the next few days. Very sadly, my friend's dad died last week so I have been making a card for her to let her know that we are thinking of her.

I used the flourish image to decorate the card and my cuttlebug swiss dots folder. I even managed to get a pen to fit in the pen holder so that I could write the text with my Silhouette.

It took forever to get the text and the writing correct but, hey, this is a big learning curve for me.
