it's been a good day!

I took a day's annual leave today and got on with some crafting and managed to finish off not one, not two, not three, but four, yes four, projects!  Yay!

Here's the advent calendar - all done.  I could do more but am thinking less is best (read that as I can't be bothered).

On to the Christmas bunting - these are presents for my daughter to give to her boss at work and a friend - I love paper bunting and have more to show in a minute... I've even altered an envelope to match the bunting.

I got my sewing machine out and did a bit of stitching - although I did have a problem when I had used double-sided tape as my needle kept getting stuck!  Note to self - use glue next time!!

So, on to my next project - this heart bunting.  It's a present for a friend who I have got in our Secret Santa - I've just hung it here for the photo.  I cut the hearts on my silhouette, alternating scalloped with plain.  I then debated on how to hang the hearts off the string and ended up just cutting a little strip and making it into a tab and threading the string through - I think it works :)

That's my four projects - I have started another one, it's a tin that I have covered in matching paper for the heart bunting to go in.  I would post a picture but seem to be having a problem with blogger. Perhaps another day.

So, as I said, it was a good day :)

Go here and find out more!  I joined in with this at the start of the year with the intention of posting every week - 10 months later and this is only my second post - where does the time go!! Every week I intend to do it, but then before I know it, Wednesday has come and gone - although I do manage to get to see several entries even if I don't manage to leave comments.

I have been very busy throughout the year with lots of projects - my main one at the moment is the altered advent calendar that seemed to be doing the rounds a couple of years ago - that's me, always a couple of years behind!  I bought mine from Tesco and it's been sitting around since then.

I couldn't find anything to use as door knobs so made some out of Fimo and covered them in glittery stuff for a bit of bling.  I can't decide what to use as door numbers yet, either the plain square numbers or I have made some circle numbers and used Glossy Accents to give a raised feel.

There's a couple of other projects going on in the background - some Christmas bunting (finished, yay) and a countdown calendar to my daughter's holiday to Disneyland next year - that's still in the very early days of design....

Imagination Stencils & Sparkle Medium

A few weeks ago I popped up to my local craft shop, Sir Stampalot, and Imagination Crafts were there demonstrating their stencils and Sparkle Medium - the cards they had made were spectacular and very sparkling. I was tempted and bought a couple of stencils and a black and blue sparkle medium.
Next weekend I set about having a play - it wasn't as easy as it looked but I am sure it will get easier with practice.
Last night I eventually got around to making the toppers into cards.  The first one I kept simple using black and white.

On these two, I got my brayer out and used  a bit of ink on the background.  

I'm thinking this one might may a good card for men which I always find difficult.

Wedding subway art

Here's a little something I did in the summer for my daughter's friend.  I've cut everything out on the Silhouette using various fonts to get it to fit across the page.  I've added a bit of stitching around the edge to give it a bit more dimension.

Birthday cards

A couple more cards that I've made - i've been so busy lately doing my digital project life.  It takes up most of my spare time!

The card above is made from paper that I got from The Range - we've got one in Peterborough now, yay!  I bought a frame from there last week which I've got big ideas for......

The card was inspired from Nichol Magouirk - I absolutely love all her designs and when I am particularly pushed for time, she is my first point of call for inspiration.

This second card is one that was nice and quick to make - my friend received a shop bought card like this for her birthday and I thought how easy it would be to make ...... I'm always stuck when it comes to making cards for men and think this is ideal.  I've cut it on my Silhouette and you can see on the second photo that there is a clever idea of using the tag from the present on the insert.

Jubilee Bunting

Hey, I'm on a roll.....more bunting to show!  Been a busy couple of days making some Jubilee Bunting using Papermania's Portobello Road range - it's really nice to work with, quite a thick paper and once stuck onto card is very sturdy. I had thought about using material but I think you'll agree that you have to look very close to see that this is made with paper - a big bonus is that it's much much cheaper!  I've used my sewing machine to add that finishing home-made touch and give the impression of material.

Ice-cream bunting

I was asked to make some bunting for a little girl's first birthday with an ice-cream theme.  I used my Silhouette to cut out the triangle template and the ice-creams.  I love making bunting and try to make it special for the occasion.  I used magnolia stamps and also Molly Blooms and coloured them in with Copics.

I have added a little bee on each alternate banner and then used Stickles as a bee trail to link them up.  It looked super, sorry I couldn't get a better photograph of it all hanging.
