Ipad Easel Card

It's my nephew's birthday and like all youngsters nowadays, he wants an Ipad (he's only 7) and is saving up all his birthday and Christmas money to get one.  I thought and thought about what sort of birthday card to make for him, and came up with this idea:

It was simple to do, searching for the icon images was a bit time consuming but importing them into my Silhouette and then using the print and cut function made it super easy.

Hope he likes it!

Travel journal - update

I had the most fantastic holiday in Santorini - it's such a beautiful island and the most perfect day is just relaxing with a nice cold glass of local Santorini wine, looking out over the caldera.  Of course, we did so much more and explored every little bit of the island, going from top to bottom, mostly travelling by local bus but also doing a whole lot of walking - and believe me, you need to be fit!

As most of my travel journal was already prepared, I just spent a little bit of time every couple of days (while relaxing on the sun beds around our pool - such a chore :)) writing up the journalling and sticking in the leaflets, tickets, etc that we had collected on our trips out.

Here are just a few pages to give a brief overview of how it looks once finished - it's way too big really, too big to go through the Bind it All, as I thought it would be.  Not to worry, it's Ok in the rings and the pages turn over ok.

When winter draws on and it's cold, dark and bleak outside, I've got a lovely reminder of summer to brighten my day.

Thanks for looking, and please feel free to comment or a link to your blog if you also made a travel journal - I would love to see it.

Santorini Travel Journal 2013

We booked our summer holiday way long ago in November 2012 and have been waiting patiently for it to arrive... and yay, just a couple more days to wait.  I've been prepping my travel journal ready for the holiday, so all I have to do is take it with me and fill in the journalling and pop into the pockets all the memorabilia that we collect along the way: all those special little tickets, leaflets, etc.

I've got a bit carried way - and prepared far too many pages.  So much so, that I am pretty sure it won't fit into the bind-it-all bindings, not even the biggest size.  I will have to work out that little problem when we get back - anyone got any suggestions?  For the holiday I shall just keep it in the rings - that will make it a lot easier for me to move around the pages most relevant to that day's activities.  So, here it is:

Happy holidays,

Distressed photo frame tutorial

I've had this week off work to potter about the house and get on with some crafting projects - it's been wonderful and I really could get used to it :)
I've been wanting to have a go at distressed photo frames for ages so took this opportunity and have made a tutorial also for those of you wanting to have a go but not too sure how to go about it.  It's really easy and very effective - go on, get out those paints, sandpaper and any old frame you have lying about.

Sorry for the poor reading quality of the instructions - I guess it adds to the distressed look, haha.

Please leave any comments you may wish to make, it will make my day.

I Gave You My Heart quilt

It's been ages since I last blogged, but that doesn't mean I haven't been busy, oh no, far from it.  When I get the chance I'll post some photos of recent projects but in the meantime my friend Sue and I went along to Bee Crafty and attended a workshop making a wonderful Wall Hanging quilt.  We were rather apprehensive as neither of us considered ourselves very capable and felt we might be out of our depth, but we needn't have worried, Sarah was very patient and encouraging.  We managed to get as far as bonding the hearts in the centre of the quilt, leaving us to sew around the edges at home.  It's taken me most of the weekend to sew the edges and there is still a lot more to do, and we may (definitely) need some help to finish them off.  Really pleased with it so far, and now looking at it, I think this may well go very nicely in my bedroom.  I was thinking of hanging it in my craft room - I'll have to wait and see once it's finished.

It's starting to feel a lot like Christmas...

More cards:

I think that's about it for this year.  I've used the Silhouette to make these cards, they're really simple but very effective, I think.
And here's Steve, putting up the Merry Christmas bunting, again cut out on my silhouette.
I'm about ready now, just a couple more presents to buy, maybe, and just a little bit more wrapping presents up.  I've got a Secret Santa party tomorrow which should be good fun.

I've got a couple more projects to complete before Christmas and will post photos when finished, possibly :)

Thanks for looking

WOYWW 182

If you're wondering what WOYWW means and what it's all about then pop over here and be blown away by all the amazing crafters out there in blogosphere.

I've been a bit more organised this week not only with posting in What's on your Workdesk, Wednesday, but also lots of Christmas cards - with the help of MaryAnne.  MaryAnne has very kindly shared some Christmas printables which you can find here.  I've made some Father Christmas belt cards in the past and I absolutely love the simple but effective design of them - they are super quick to make and look wonderful.

So, what else is on my desk - a very disgusting Silhouette cutting mat!  I've cleaned it and resprayed it several times and it will keep me going for a bit longer.
Printables from MaryAnne

Tree and Reindeer design
I used a design from the Silhouette store to make the Reindeer Christmas card and you can see the Seasons Greetings on the mat - it was a bit tricky to cut and took a couple of attempts to get the correct thickness of paper/card but it cut like a dream in the end.

Thanks for taking the time to look around my desk and hopefully this week I'll get around to a few of yours.  Have a good week, and happy crafting :)

Sue
